Supplies for Katie’s photo shadow box:

1. Cardstock
2. Picture paper
3. Printer
4. Cricut machine that do a print then cut (any except for the Cricut Joy)
5. Light grip cutting mat
6. Fine point blade (the one that comes with the machine)
7. Glue and/or double sided tape
8. Design from Cricut Design Space

Steps:

1. Type out the word you would like to use and pick a nice thick font for it.
2. Size your frame and letters to fit. See my YouTube video for more in depth description and demonstration on this.
3. Make a duplicate of your letters.
4. Place one set of your letters where you would like them to be on your shadow box/frame, then select all of the letters and change them to a score line. Do not forget to attach these score lines to the shadow box/frame.
5. Place uploaded photo over a letter. You may need to play around with the size of the photo to get it to line up well with your photo. Do not resize your letter or it will be different from the other letters. Then select the photo and the letter and hit the slice button in the bottom right side of the page. Delete all the extra pieces you do not want/need. Repeat for all of your letters.
6. Add extra pieces to decorate your frame if desired. Then hit the make it button and cut out all of your pieces depending on the type of material you are using. You may need to do a calibration for the print then cut, which I have a full tutorial on here.
7. Fold and glue the frame together. For the frame I chose you can see how to assemble it in my YouTube video.
8. Attach all of your photo letters and extra pieces to your frame.

Supplies for Fernando’s Crane:

1. Any Cricut machine or other similar machine
2. Scoring stylus or scoring wheel (Cricut maker tool)
3. Thin paper
4. Design

Steps:

1. Change all lines to score lines, under the operations tab at the top.
2. Resize design if desired. I changed mine to 8 x 8 inches so it would fit on my letter size paper.
3. Ungroup the design, then only select the outer square and change it back to a basic cut.
4. Select everything and hit the attach button towards the bottom right side of the page.
5. Hit the make button and select the appropriate setting based on the thickness of paper you are using and your machine. Follow the instructions on your machine to insert the correct tools. It should have you do your score lines first then cut.
6. Watch the YouTube video to see how to fold your paper.

My photo shadow box would be perfect for remembering family vacations or as a gift. At first you might just think of it as a wedding gift, but if could also be perfect for say someone that likes a particular car. You can spell out the name or model of that car and put correlating photos inside the letters.

My husband said having the folded lines did make folding the crane easier. Some of the folds can be a bit tricky and having the folds already in the paper helped make those more complicated folds easier to bend/make.
