Supplies:
- Purse, bag, hat, item you want to burn your design into.
- Wood burning tool. A simple welding tool also works. I liked having a wet sponge to wipe the melted plastic off the tool as I worked.
- Recommended to have a vacuum to suck up any fumes.
- If you do not want use a burning tool, then you can try these markers.
- A heat proof pad to help make your item flat and easier to work on. It will also help protect the other side of your purse or work surface.
- Press and seal to transfer your design onto your purse.
- A thin tip sharpie to drawl your design.
- My design can be found in my free library.
Steps:
1. Trace your design onto a piece of press and seal plastic with a thin tip sharpie.

2. Put a pressing pad inside your purse to make the surface flat and to protect the other side of your purse or work surface.
3. Place the plastic press and seal on your purse. It stuck well to my purse so no extra tape was needed, but you can apply some if you wish. I also recommend testing your burning tool or markers if you use any on the bottom of your purse first.
4. Turn on your vacuum, go to a well ventilated area or wear a respirator mask and start tracing your design with your burning tool. Some burning tools have different tips you can use. I recommend starting out light handed and adding a little more pressure if needed or going over an area a second time. I tend to be heavy handed so I did not need to do this. If your burning tool has different heat settings, I recommend starting on a lower setting first and adjust as needed. Add extra details as you go.

5. Remove any extra plastic wrap and add any extra details if needed.
I really love how this turned out! I will definitely use this for other seasons not just in the fall. I was also surprised how fast this project went. I thought it would take a lot longer than it did.
I thought a purse might be used the most, but I also really liked this burning look on cowboy hats. This technique could also be fun on a trick or treat bag, just make sure it is safe to use a burning tool on.
