Supplies:
- 2 part resin. I used the resin from Dollar Tree. Make sure you get both part A and part B.
- A well ventilated area or a respirator.
- Gloves.
- Silicone cup to mix your resin in.
- Silicone stir stick to mix your resin with.
- Silicone mold. Make sure it is glossy inside if you want your resin piece to be glossy.
- Crushed glass.
- Ribbon.
- Small bow and/or flowers.
- Extra pieces to decorate with, like sequins, tube glitter, thick glitter, different colors of crushed glass, and diamond gems.
Steps:
1. Make sure to wear gloves and work in a well ventilated area or wear a respirator when working with resin.
2. Pour both part A and part B of your resin into your silicon cup. Mix the two parts together well.
3. Pour a little bit of your resin mixture into your mold. The Dollar Tree resin made 3 wreaths in the donuts mold.
4. Pour crushed glass of your choice of color into your silicon mold. Stop at about half way and place your ribbon to hang your wreath from. You may need to adjust the ribbon occasionally.
5. Pour a little more resin into each of your molds, then pour more crushed glass on top followed by a little more resin. The amount of crushed glass depends how thick you want your wreath to be.
6. Place extra decorations on each of your wreaths. I like to add a bow or flower to the top of my wreath to finish it off.
7. Add a little more resin to each mold to insure all extra decorative pieces are covered. You can add more or less resin depending if you want your wreath to be more smooth, rougher, or something in between. I personally like the rougher textured style the best.
8. Unmold your wreaths.
These wreaths were a lot of fun to make. They were pretty simple and easy to make too. The Dollar Tree resin is perfect for anyone that might be intimidated by resin or just wants to try it out on a single project. This could be a fun project to do with a group of friends to see how everyone decorates their own piece.
I like the size of the donuts molds, but it does make the wreaths a little thick, which makes then a little heavy. Next time I might not fill my molds as full so they are thinner and lighter. I would also be able to make an additional wreath as well.
