Supplies:
- Candle making kit from Hobby Lobby
- Extra candles or candle wax
- Silicone molds
- Lighter
- Silicone mat to protect your work surface
- Optional: self leveling table
Steps:
1. Place circular dots in wood bowl where you would like your candle wicks to go. Then remove the protective piece and place candle wicks on dots.
2. Slide candle wicks through hole in Popsicle sticks and place Popsicle sticks across wooden bowl.
3. Place one cup inside the other cup and place sleeve over outer most cup.
4. Pour candle wax inside cup (not all of the wax will fit). Place cups in microwave for 30 seconds, then stir with provided spoon. Repeat until wax is fully melted. Do not microwave for more than 30 seconds at a time.
5. Pour melted wax into wooden bowl. Let wax fully cool. Do not move or disturb until it is fully cool.
6. Melt additional wax in the same way or in the oven. See this tutorial on how to melt wax in the oven. Then pour melted wax into silicone molds. Let wax fully cool before removing from molds and repeat as needed. See my video for how I added multiple colors of wax to the molds to make stunning flowers.
7. Arrange flowers to your liking on candle. Then remove the flowers and heat up the wax in the wood bowl. You can heat up the wax with a lighter or pour a thin layer of melted wax on top. Then place your flowers back on top of your candle in your desired arrangement.
8. Use the lighter to heat up any uneven areas or areas with divots or holes.
I thought this was a nice kit for the price. You could buy higher quality items like the wicks, but I think it is perfect for beginners. Adding the flowers really took these candles to the next level and made them look expensive, especially the flowers with the pink in them. My husband was so surprised I made the flowers with the pink in them. I love how high end they look, but yet are very easy to make.
The nice thing with the wax is if a flower breaks or is not to your liking, then you can simply melt it back down and try again. These flowers would also be perfect as candle melts. You could add a few to a nice box for an elegant gift maybe for a wedding or baby shower or in addition to the candle.
