Supplies:
- Picture frame
- Printout of design you would like
- Clear glue
- Different colored glass (you can also color the glass yourself)
- Rhinestone chain
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Pliers
- gems or something for the eyes
- Wire cutters
- Optional: Tweezers
Steps:
1. Print your image to size.
2. Remove the backing to your picture frame along with the tabs that hold the backing on. You can spray paint your frame if you would like.
3. Apply hot glue to the back of your frame and place the glass or plastic piece in place. Apply additional hot glue to insure the glass/plastic is secure to the frame without the backing.
4. Place image behind glass and apply clear glue to outline the shape. Then place rhinestone chain along the outline. You may need to cut the rhinestone chain to apply it in certain areas.
5. Glue gems for the eyes and allow all glue to dry.
6. Place glass pieces as desired.
7. Mix water and clear glue together in a container, then pour the mixture over all of the glass pieces.
8. Allow everything to dry. Apply additional glue to areas that might need a bit more.
9. Apply additional glue in a swirl pattern around blank/empty areas to create a cool affect.
I really like how this turned out. You could do this with so many different seasons/designs. It looks really pretty when the light hits it. It is like a stain glass, but all you need is some glue. I have not testing if the glue will turn yellow over time if left in the sun. If you are worried about the glue turning yellow, then you could try coloring the glue so you will not notice if it yellows.
