Supplies:
- Modeling Paste
- Canvas. I recommend using a square canvas for this design. Mine was a 12×12 inch canvas.
- Spatula See video for the shapes I used.
- Acrylic paint. I used 2 different greens, red, and a light blue.
- Containers to mix paints and modeling paste.
- Scrapper tools. These may be found in the cake decorations, tools, or paint section.
- Optional: fake berries and a ribbon to make a bow. I did not use these, but they could add a nice touch.
Steps:
1. Use your spatula to mix some modeling paste and a very small amount of light blue paint together. Use more paint for a darker color background if desired.
2. Use a scraper tool to apply a thin layer of this colored modeling paste evenly all over your canvas. Make some textures with your scraper tool.
3. Allow this thin layer to fully dry before moving onto the next step.
4. Mix modeling paste with your green paints. Then use a spatula to apply the mixture to your canvas by dragging the spatula over your canvas, do not scrape the canvas. I mixed my green mixtures together to create more green colors as I added more leaves around my wreath.
5. I recommend allowing your green leaves to fully dry before adding the berries. The berries are great for covering up any areas you are not happy with. I did not wait and it became a bit messy. If you are using the molding paste like I did for your berries, then simply add small dollops of the red molding paste where needed. You can also glue fake berries as well.
6. Allow everything to fully dry. If you have any cracks, then you can fill them in with leftover modeling paste, if you covered them while your piece was drying. You can also add a bow if you would like.
This is an elegant piece that actually was very easy and quick to make. Your guest will think you spent a lot of money on it. Just add a canvas frame to really take it to the next level.
I really liked the small amounts of texture and color I added to the background. A pretty velvet ribbon could also be very pretty addition.
